Pernaí Kerríiaí trííbúm

For this project my wish was to dwell on the olive tree: the house where I grew up in is surrounded by fields of olive trees, so naturally it has always been part of my imagery. This plant is typical of the Abruzzese coast, as it is of all the Adriatic and of all the Mediterranean. It is an icon, able to strongly and deeply evoke our own home and at the same time to bring our thoughts to all of the other places where, sometimes since centuries ago, the bestowers of green gems have been towering for millennia, having their place on our ancestors’ table, as fruit or oil. The olive tree adorns, feeds, seasons, symbolises, repairs and unites. Every knot tells a story, as if each crevice of those irregular barks might lurk a portal to another world.
